This tiny bird's nest was found in a magical pocket of trees and flowering quince. It was overhanging a little stream in north Canterbury, at the end of a very long, quiet country road. It was the middle of winter, and abandoned for the year, so I carefully brought it home to photograph. The mossy branch in this picture was found in the same place. It was the softest, most feathery thing.
